On Labor Day, we celebrate the achievements of the American Labor movement. Among the most notable of these is, through things like the 40-hour work week and pubic holidays, the institution of free time.
And while this weekend we've used that time to barbecue and sun ourselves at the shore, the coming of fall means using it to promote progressivism and resist the rising tide of oppression and brutality.
Here's what we're looking at:
-The NJ legislature is yet to act on Governor Murphy's conditional veto of the tax incentives bill, so be sure to call your reps(or call again!).
-As part of the #DefundHate campaign to resist continued abuse of immigrants, constituents are rallying at Rep Sires' office at 4 PM on Friday, September 13. Can't make it? Check out other events and call scripts from Indivisible.
-On September 17, Hoboken Councilperson Emily Jabbour and State Assemblywoman Annette Chapparo are hosting an informational meeting about ranked-choice voting by Fair Vote at the Hoboken Public Library.
-NJ-08 for Progress is also planning another postcard and letter writing event for local assembly races and swing state voters in September (date forthcoming).
-And finally, we have our eyes on a planned Never Again Action civil disobedience at the ICE Field Office in Newark on Thursday, October 3rd.
