Keep an Eye on ICE

As Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made news this week for calling the camps full of concentrated refugees under armed guard in the United States by the name "concentration camps," the current regime plans to intensify its raids on undocumented people in many cities, including New York, today.

Here are some things you can do:

  • If you come in contact with any undocumented people, United We Dream has great Know Your Rights literature in a variety of languages.

  • Keep an eye on the New Sanctuary Coalition twitter feed for possible actions in the city.

  • Call Albio Sires ((202) 225-7919) or Donald Payne ((202) 225-3436) and tell them to refuse further funding for DHS border security without further guarantees of humane treatment for migrants (no more camps or family separations).

Ending This Regime

The best way to assure the end of the demonization and dehumanization of migrants is to end the current regime altogether. As you speak to Sires or Payne's office, be sure to remind them of your stance on the beginning of an impeachment inquiry.

Then, with our eyes on the 2020 election, join us for the first Democratic primary debate on Wednesday and Thursday night. We'll be at Hudson Hall in downtown Jersey City on Wednesday at 8:30, and at Buddy Dee's in Jersey City Heights at the same time on Thursday.

Who to Call

Though national headlines tend to overshadow local issues, it is important that we keep our eyes on Trenton this week, as the state budget showdown continues.

Though an alarming number of our representatives voted to renew the clearly corrupt EDA, we still have time to push them on introducing a tax on millionaires.

Whoever your representatives are, give them a call at (855) 649-2059.
