More To Do

Here is what we've got on our radar heading into the middle of April:

This Week:
We are excited to hear from local community members, politicians, and representatives of the Jersey City Environmental Commission at the first ever Hudson County Climate Town Hall on Wednesday in the Jersey City Hall Council Chambers.  Be sure to get your (free) tickets on Eventbrite.

Then, this Thursday, and every Thursday, Welcome Home holds Jersey City Fun Club, an event for newly arrived refugees and their families.  Activities include ESL classes, job placement advice, and age-appropriate fun and educational programs for children. Sign up here to volunteer to drive vans, help with activities, teach ESL classes, help with homework, and more.

In May:
Save the date Thursday, May 8, when we plan to host a training event for County Committee candidates and campaign volunteers.  Come learn how to organize voter data, craft messages and platforms, create postcards and flyers, and practice your canvassing techniques.

We're also excited to join our friends at Force the Issue NJ and the Resistance JC at the celebration of their merger on May 11 at Zeppelin Hall Beirgarten at 1 PM. We're eager to hear about their plans for 2019 and beyond.

Who to Call
Yesterday morning, Representatives Albio Sires and Donald Payne Jr. released strong statements condemning the violent, Islamophobic rhetoric against Representative Ilhan Omar from the President and his party.  They deserve thanks, but they also have a responsibility to use their Constitutional powers to censure and/or remove those in power who incite violence against democratically elected lawmakers.

Give them a call:
Albio Sires (202-225-7919)
Donald Payne Jr. (202-225-3436)
